When John was 15
years old, his family joined a new and larger church. After a short time
John was asked to become the accompanist for the Teen Television Choir,
where he was able to experience the new challenge of on-camera performances.
All the while, John was becoming active in school music programs as well,
winning music-awards and scholarships at Mount Pleasant High School,
Graduating in 1974. |
John Troutman
has been playing the piano
for more than 40 years. Born in Chicago,
Illinois, John took his first piano lesson at 8 years old. After a few
weeks of lessons, the music teacher secretly shared with John's parents
that the young pianist showed great promise as a musician and with hard
work could very well become a Concert Artist. Mr. & Mrs. Troutman
quietly retained those thoughts as the family relocated from the Windy
City back to their Carolina roots where John and his 3 siblings were
introduced to a purely country existence. |
. Their new home was an old two-story farm house without indoor
plumbing, (no bathroom or tub) just a lone cold water faucet in the
kitchen The tin-roofed home on 75 acres in Mt. Pleasant, North
Carolina has since become home to
Wings of Eagles Ranch
serving Cabarrus County . |

At age 11, young John was asked to
play the piano for church choir
rehearsal in the absence of the regular accompanist. (Both his Mom
& Dad sang in the choir.)
From that day forward John began taking on more and more responsibility as pianist for small groups and by age 13 was the full-time accompanist for
the church choir.
Every new piece of music, every rehearsal, and every performance
helped John to grow as a musician, and expand his music skills.

During his College years, John spent his summers at the University of
Michigan's, National Music Camp and
Interlochen Center for the Arts.
After College, John worked in Computers and Banking but spent
most of his time at home practicing the piano. 1986 was a year
full of personal and career changes for John and family. During that year, John turned 30, celebrated 4 years of marriage, and learned that he and Lorie were expecting their first child, and recorded his first album. Three years later the growing success of his albums prompted John to make the transition to full-time musician. Now many years later, John's time is divided between concert appearances, time with family, and studio recording. |
